adhd1440v2

Introduction:

I liked the ADHD quite a bit, so I made a FPV version. Since it would be heavier, I increased the size of the wing in all sides by 1".

Components:

  • Dollar tree foam board & miscellaneous packing foam

  • Rotorx 1104 4000kv motor with LDARC 3.8*3E prop

  • Spektrum AR6400LBL

  • AIO fpv camera with a 5v bec

Conclusion:

At 40g dry, it's 10g heavier than the original. The increase in weight primarily came from the fpv camera and additional bec. The prop is also a bit larger as well.

Unfortunately, I picked the wrong day to maiden. It was fairly clam except with 15mph gusts. I took a chance and destroyed the camera before I could even fpv it. The major problem was that one of the elevons didn't work well since it was partially blocked by one of the aileron plugs on the board.

Update 7/16/20 - After flying it hard, I snapped the wing in half with all the hard turns. I've rebuilt it with a center bamboo spar.

Update 7/18/20 - The rebuild increased the weight and moved the CG forward by an inch. It now weighs 45g dry with the FPV camera. After a bit of trimming, it still flies great without FPV gear. Still need to test it with fpv gear.
