Introduction:

I tried another rebuild by cutting down some more weight.

Components:

  • Dollar tree foam board and plane for fuse

  • 2x Racerstar 1104 6500kv motor

  • 4 in 1 ESC from a Leader 120 (with only 2 escs functional)

  • Noxe F4 FC running Inav

  • Eachine VTX01 & EOS 2 camera

  • Frsky XM+

  • 2x 3.7g servos

  • Beitian 180 GPS

Conclusion:

This still came out heavier than I wanted at 138grams dry. I'll need to fly it to see how it performs. Finding the perfect balance between performance/weight/durability is sometimes very difficult.

Update 7/31/20 - The slight reduction in weight did improve things a bit, but this wing design only performs well if there is enough speed and with a lower overall weight. Fortunately, GPS navigation mode seems to be pretty efficient and I was able to get 7mins of loitering time out of a 3s 550mah and 13mins out of a 3s 850mah battery.
