Introduction:

I've tried different combinations now of the larger wing, so this is a smaller version of the wing instead.

Components:

  • Dollar tree foam board
  • Turnigy Plush 2-4s 10a esc with 5v2a BEC
  • Frsky D8 receiver DSM receiver
  • 2x 5g servos powered by a separate 2a bec
  • Sunnysky 1104 7500kv motors with Gemfan 3018 prop

Conclusion:

The dry weight came to 69grams. Build style is pretty much the same as the others except without the wing spars to cut down on weight. It'll be interesting to see how it performs given the smaller wing size (430mm).

Update 4/8/20 - This ended up being really great after a bit of tuning. The elevons were oversized and caused the rolls to be overly sensitive even with a high expo, so I had to limit the travel to get it working properly. Also, it was very tail heavy compared to the other wings, so I had to move the 2s battery all the way to the front to get it to fly correctly. Overall, this is a very fast wing even though the motor is small. It gets away from you really fast and it is easy to lose orientation from a distance.

Update 4/19/20 - Replaced a servo after it spun out in the wind and crashed. I assume the servo got stripped during a strong gust which cause it to spin out of control.

Update 4/20/20 - After a lot of failsafes, I swapped this over to a DSM receiver. After flying this for a number of times, I have decided that I don't really like it so much since it stalls quite a bit unless you're flying it fast.

Update 6/26/20 - I decided to use the parts for a different wing since these shorter wings stall too easily
