Ripper

Introduction:

Back to smaller wings - this one capable of 4-6s and with digital fpv gear. Been flying with DJI mainly on quads, but now switching to fixed wings as well.

Conclusion:

413g dry. The maiden went very successfully. Aside from adjusting the trim manually, most of the other issues were DJI OSD related. I had to delete some unsupported elements so they would not take up time scrolling thru the name field. The great thing about smaller wings is that they take off so easily without any issues or drama unlike larger planes which may sometimes fail even after a hundred successful launches. It flew well on 4s and landings were equally easy and drama free. Unfortunately, it did seem to exhibit quite a bit of shakiness during the flight even though it was a relatively calm day. I was also unable to test it on 6s due to the fact that I broke the camera after a tip stall onto hard asphalt at about 50 feet while trying to follow a slow bird.

Update 12/28/21 - Tried it on a 6s lipo and it burned up the motor on takeoff. Fortunately, the new camera only got dislodged since I managed to steer it onto the grass this time instead of asphalt.

Update 1/23/21 - After getting rid of all the reflex, it now is a efficient fast cruiser. I think it would be a much better wing if the canopy was a bit larger so that it can hold 6x21700 cells for even faster cruising with low amps.

Update 2/27/22 - After landing into a snowbank today, the FC died (probably from voltage spike). I replaced it with another and added the recommended cap to it this time. Unfortunately, the camera lens also fogged up from the inside and I had to replace that as well. Considering it was a small bump in the snow, it ended up being costly.

Update 4/3/22- With the 1550kv motor on 4s, I was able to cruise 70kph on 3.5amps, 90kph on 6.5amps, and 130kph on 20amps.
