Introduction:

Back into quad building mode while waiting on inav's 2.6 release which will fix a frsky failsafe disarm issue. Kind of annoying since I'm heavily dependent on that fix, but I don't want to build a bunch of fixed wings only to have to tear them apart to reflash firmware later. However, videos of this indestructible frame are kind of interesting. It's amazing how far this plastic material has come since my early rs90 days. I did notice upon inspection that all the struts on the whole frame are in the shape of airfoils.

Components:

  • Karearea talon v2 frame

  • Emax ECO 2207 2400kv motors

  • Runcam micro sparrow 2

  • TBS unify pro

  • TBS nano crossfire rx

  • Lumenier skitzo flightone FC

  • Stubby antenna

Conclusion:

355g dry. This claims to have an indestructible frame, but I was able to break it on my third pack. It fell from about 20 feet onto asphalt and the rear screw holes on the canopy broke. I drilled 2 holes in the back of the canopy to tie it down to the rear of the frame using a twist tie.

Update 11/21/20: Tuning this is a PITA. Have to take off the canopy every time, so I haven't given it too much of a tune. No OSD is not a good thing, and having to take the canopy off to tune means this really isn't going to get much of a tune. The canopy design leaves a lot to be desired, but the frame itself does seem durable. It still needs a bit more D term and there is a bit of bounce back on the rolls.
