ng580-2726

Introduction:

I didn't want to build another plank, but I was just too curious as to how it compares to the previous wing when it comes to speed.

Components:

  • Dys Samguk 2207 2600kv motor

  • Amax 40a 4s esc

  • Dollar tree Foam board & carbon fiber spar

  • TBS crossfire nano rx

  • Noxe F4 flight controller (flywoo version)

  • Beitian 220 GPS

  • Generic camera

  • Emax ES08MA II Analog Metal Gear Micro Servo x2

  • Vivafpv 600mw vtx

  • Buzzer

Conclusion:

250g dry. I seem to be able to make wings lighter than planks (even with a center fuse). 25g extra seems to be significant, so we'll have to see how it handles.

The maiden was ok, but I was a bit skeptical of it after the first flight. It was very twitchy until I completely readjusted the servo links for more precision. After tuning it a bit, it flies a lot better. There is still a bit of bounce back, so there is going to be more tuning necessary. It flies very much like the previous planks, except with a ton more power. I love the extra power as it pretty much assures a successful launch even in adverse wind conditions. This one is really growing on me, so we'll have to see how good I can get the tune.

Update 7/15/21: After flying this one back to back with w60-2726, I have come to the conclusion that I prefer planks overall. The w60 is lighter and a tad faster, but the plank does have a better tune while the w60 feels more raw. I think if I did a v2, I would definitely tune it a bit more and make some changes to the elevons to tighten up the handling.

Update 10/14/21: Tried putting a 5.5" prop on there and it went over 160km/hr, but smoked the ESC and possibly the motor as well.
