Introduction

Built this with the kids to see if I could let them learn to fly on it.

Components

  • Dollar tree foam board
  • fuselage from a dollar tree foam glider
  • 3x 9g servos (2 powered by a separate bec)
  • DSM receiver OrangeRX R618 XL receiver
  • Turnigy plush 10a esc
  • 1806 2280kv motor
  • FX799T vtx
  • Foxeer camera (arrow?)

Conclusion

Since this was intended to be a trainer, I used a bit more tape and it turned out to be a porky 241g. It actually flies fine, but definitely isn't a beginner plane. The original plan was to add an extra dihedral extension to the wings as well, but since the weight was already so high, I'll be making another lighter design with dihedral prebuilt for the kids to learn on instead.

Update 6/8/20 - I added fpv gear to it.

Update 7/6/20 - I tested it at a larger field and the generic receiver was hitting a limit really quickly, so I swapped it with a orangerx instead.
