pw465v2

Introduction:

After the loss of pw4645, I had to push on, but decided to build a tougher version. I used a larger spar and took the opportunity to increase the wingspan by a few more cm. It is basically the entire length of a sheet of foamboard. The previous version was made of 2 separate smaller pieces. Since it was one piece, I decidd to eliminate all forward sweep to see how it would perform.

Components:

  • Dollar tree foam board and plane for fuse

  • 2x Racerstar 1104 6500kv motor

  • 4 in 1 ESC from a Leader 120 (with only 2 escs functional)

  • Noxe F4 FC running Inav

  • Eachine VTX01 & EOS 2 camera

  • Frsky XM+

  • 2x 3.7g servos

  • Beitian 180 GPS

Conclusion:

Unfortunately, all the extra strengthening caused the weight to balloon to 151g dry. I maidened it in a smaller baseball field which was a big mistake since the turning radius of this new plane is now a lot larger. I feel like it's a combination of increased wingspan along with a big increase in weight, but I ended up crashing it hard a couple of times since I was literally running out of space as I tried avoiding trees on both ends of the park. I'm going to have to head to a larger spot to tune this one.

Update 7/29/20 - I removed all the electronics from this since the flight was rather disappointing. Due to the weight, it felt somewhat heavy and reflected in the relative short 4 min flight times on 3s 550mahs.
