Week 26: This week, students should be working on Prep 4 sheets. Saturday classes arranged for 6 April 2019 from 09:00 - 13:00. Compulsory to most students (identified as not having met set deadlines to complete exam in time).
Week 25: This week, students should be finalizing Prep 3 sheets and starting with Prep 4. Saturday classes arranged for 30 March 2019 from 09:00 - 13:00. Compulsory to most students (identified as not having met set deadlines to complete exam in time).
Week 24: This week, students should be working on Prep 3 sheets. Saturday classes arranged for 23 March 2019 from 09:00 - 13:00. Compulsory to most students (identified as not having met set deadlines to complete exam in time).
Week 23: The students should have completed Prep 2 this week and started with Prep 3. This has not realized and Saturday classes have been put in place to support those who have fallen behind schedule. Students need to work over weekends to catch up on on their artist research.
Week 22: Students should be busy with Prep 2. Progress reports were taken this week and students behind schedule were notified of additional required time ('detention') next week Wednesday, 13 March 2019.
Week 21: Students should have completed Prep 1 this week. Unfortunately, most did not. Students are expected to meet deadlines in order to keep up with the work pace required. Prep 2 (artist research) must commence on Monday, 4 March 2019.
Week 20: Year 11 PTC. In class, students are encouraged to stop working on their Coursework project (was due 11 January 2019) and focus 100% on their Prep 1 sheets for the Broad based assignment (exam).
Week 19: Students needed to add photographs and initial thumbnail sketches to their Prep 1 sheets, according to their chosen exam topic. At least 2 - 3 sketches should be completed at this stage.
Week 18: Introduction of new IGCSE Broad-based project (compulsory Component 1). Students received a list of 10 possible topics to choose from. Three suggested to them, but still their choice. Students are encouraged to start taking photographs and create initial idea drawings.

Week 14: Students started on their final outcomes for the Coursework project (to be completed over the holidays).
Week 13: Students submitted all their preparation sheets completed up until now. This term's results are based on an assessment of all five Assessment Outcomes (AO's) for IGCSE Art & Design. Students should continue working during the holidays to complete their supporting studies by January.
Week 12: Students continued with their three 'IDEAS' sheets in support of their final project. All students behind schedule at this stage - needing to put in a lot more extra time.
Week 11: Students started with the first of three 'IDEAS' pages that forms part of their supporting studies for this term's project.
Week 10: Students are completing Artist Research and starting with Media Experimentation (Prep 3). For this, they need to start planning their FINAL piece, in order to incorporate it into their Media Experimentation. Only 1 x A2 sheet required, but 2 x sheets ideal.
Week 9: Students continued with their Artist Research prep sheets.
Week 8: Students started with Artist Research prep sheets (two x A2).
Week 7: Students received written and verbal feedback on their projects. The class also did a peer assessment activity, developing their own judgement skills and learning from each other. Most students have now started on Preparation 2 (Artist research).
Week 6: Final completion and submission of Prep 1/Introduction sheet(s) for "My Surroundings" project. Mid-term assessment based on AO1: Students needed to demonstrate their abilities to conduct research for the theme by adding photos (taken by them), observational sketches and annotations to their preparation sheet(s).
Week 5: Students worked on their Supporting Studies for this term's art project. One-on-one sessions held with each individual student to discuss which sketches and research can support this term's project from Year 10, what medium they want to use and what their ideas are around a final piece.
Week 4: Students worked on their Supporting Studies for Component 4 (Coursework). The focus was on background creations, adding more observational studies and starting to make decision regarding layout. By Monday, 24 September, the Introduction sheets must be completed in order to start with Preparation 2 (Artist research).
Week 3: Working on AO2, which includes artist research. At this point students should have: Good quality photographs of their ideas, four observational sketches and research on an appropriate artist.
Week 2: Working on AO1 (Assessment Outcome 1), which includes two observational drawings in and around Matrix school building. Long weekend homework: Taking photos and completing another two observation sketches linked to students' ideas.
Week 1: Introduction: Getting to know students, overview of term planning and discussion about IGCSE Art & Design 0400 syllabus content, requirements and assessment criteria. Term theme: 'This is me...reflected in my surroundings'. Objective: Students are required to choose between depicting a) natural form, b) man-made form or c) landscape that symbolizes their identity.
