MISP Science and Maths Week

• Students made their own maths boardgames and participated in various activities such as mental maths and Quizizz games.

TERM 1 Week 7 (14/10/2020 - 16/10/2020)

This week, children have learned to:

• learn × and ÷ facts for the 9 times-table and identify patterns in the 9 times- table to describe patterns.

• Multiply multiples of 10 by a single-digit number.

TERM 1 Week 6 (14/10/2020 - 16/10/2020)

This week, children have learned to:

• Learn × and ÷ facts for the 6 times-table.

We have revised the times-tables from 0 - 10.

TERM 1 Week 5 (05/10/2020 - 09/10/2020)

This week, children have learned to:

• add two 4-digit numbers, not crossing 10 000

• round 4-digit numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000

• subtract 3-digit numbers using expanded written column subtraction

• use counting up as a mental subtraction strategy where the larger number has one or more zeros

• use expanded written column subtraction and decide when to use mental or written subtraction

• choose and use methods of subtraction to solve 3-digit subtractions

TERM 1 Week 4 (28/9/2020 - 02/10/2020)

This week, children have learned to:

• add 2-digit numbers mentally (partitioning or counting on in 10s and 1s, using number facts etc.)

• choose a strategy to subtract 2-digit and 3-digit numbers (count back or count up)

• add 3-digit numbers using written column addition

• subtract 3-digit numbers using an expanded column method

TERM 1 Week 3 (21/9/2020 - 25/9/2020)

This week, children have been learning to:

• Read, write and know what each digit represents in a 4-digit number and place 4-digit numbers on landmarked number lines.

• Find pairs with a total of 100

• Adding to the next multiple of a 100

• subtracting to the previous multiple of 100

• Subtract by counting up to find a difference

• Add several numbers

TERM 1 Week 2 (14/9/2020 - 18/9/2020)

This week, children have been learning to:

• Read, write and know what each digit represents in a 4-digit number

• compare 4-digit numbers using > and < signs

TERM 1 WEEK 1 (7/9/2020 - 11/9/2020)

Year 4 has completed a baseline assessment in maths to allow us to plan for more personalised learning at the appropriate stage and to track progress.
