Week 35: In this week students responded to their WWW and EBI comments based on Kente Paper Weaving Using Warm & Cool coloured paper strips .
Week 34: In this week they started Kente cloth power point slides. The instructions are:
•Create a title (think how this could be presented, how could the letters incorporate Kente Cloth?)
•Presentation of page. (How could you layout your page? Does the title have to be at the top?)
•Distinguish differences between Kente patterns and symbols.

Week 33: In this week they started Kente cloth by using paper. They had to follow layers by layers and must add pattern onto the Kente Cloth.

Week 31: In this week, they started with the Yarn wrapped cardboard letters. The lesson objective was to understand the basic weaves, the different fabric structures produced and their characteristics.

Week 24: Students went outside to view the lake in front of the boarding house. The task was to observe and create water patterns (with ink) by looking at the ripples in the water and shadows cast on the lake, giving off different tonal values.

Week 22: In this week they started their first project for term 2.2 scope which inspired from water. They started with the swimming pool line drawing with four thumbnails.

Week 21: In this week they started their final task which was inspired by Hokusai. They started by using carbon paper and the technique used was press print. Then they continued with the impasto technique.

Week 18: Students completed their final prints on watercolour prepared A3 paper.

Week 17 : In this week they submitted the salt rubber band and folding techniques. Then they started to paint the background of Hokusai project on A2 size of paper.

Week 17 : Students made their Great Wave imprints on A3 foamalite cuts in preparation for printing. Three print trials done in sketchbooks, along with WWW and EBI for each one.

Week 16: In this week they continued the salt + rubber band + folding techniques into tissue paper. After that they had to write the WWW and EBI onto the sampling paper.

Week 16: The class started a discussion on the theme of Water. In preparation for this term's project, students watched two tutorials on the use of watercolour and the effects that one can create by adding salt and using cling wrap. Students then tried both techniques in their sketchbooks, along with WWW & EBI.

Week 15: In this week teacher briefed the students about the new topic which will be covered for this term. Teacher showed termly planning and briefed about Water. Then teacher gave a few keywords for the first week and they started to do first activity which was tie dye by using tissue paper and ramadzhol ( batik dye). They did folding and rubber band techniques.

Week 15: Students created a drawing showcasing what they did over the past holidays. The new theme for the term, namely WATER, was also introduced.

Week 14: Students completed a reflection questionaire based on what they enjoyed during Term 1 and what they would like to do/see/discuss/learn next year.

Week 13: In this week they continued doing the final task sheet and completed the WWW and EBI.
Week 14: In this week teacher recapped this term lesson and the feedback of this term lesson. Teacher also asked about topics that they want to learn next term.

Week 13: Students completed their Cave Art projects by drawing animals on their prepared paper that resembles the style from the ancient cave artists. They used sticks, their fingers as well as old brushes (resembles animal hair on a stick) to imitate the prehistoric technique. This was assessed, along with the students' clay fruit sculptures. The average mark is reflected in the Term 1 result.

Week 12: There was no lesson for art as it was Public Holiday. It will be continued next week.

Week 12: The students started on a new topic, namely Prehistoric Art. Presentation was done on ancient cave paintings (locations, examples were shown, what materials they used and most popular subject matter). Students prepared a background for their artworks by using coffee to colour white A3 paper brown. They also made some preparation sketches of animals, similar to the way people used to depict them in cave paintings, to practice what they will draw for their final piece.

Week 11: In this week, teacher introduced the students with the new topic which was prehistoric art. This topic will be related with their final task sheet of this term. Next week they are going to start by doing exploration on the brown paper.

Week 10: Students completed annotations and reflection relating to 3D fruit sculpting.

Week 10 : In this week they started to complete colour chips and composition 3 for the baseline assessment 3.

Week 9: Students started on 3D fruit sculptures made from air-dry clay. We started with 2 x basic pinch pots, moulded them together and let it set to dry. During the next lesson, the students had the opportunity to paint their fruit according to the colour resembled by the actual fruit modelled for them.

Week 9 : In this week they continued their baseline assessment 3 which was using wet media. Then teacher explained to them some keywords that they will be using to describe their artworks. Next week will be the submission week for the baseline assessment 3 and crit session for their baseline assessment 1,2 and 3.

Week 8: Students completed pear collages.

Week 8 : In this week teacher started with the Baseline Assessment 3. They started by drawing the three composition frames and the template was given to each of them as teacher wanted standardise the size of template. Then teacher showed them a demonstration about the mark making, rule of third and how to draw with the accurate proportion. Then they started by sketching their still life actual object on their A3 cartridge paper.

Week 7: Students started their pear collage, making sure to focus on the highlights, mid-tones and shadows depicted in the image they received. Thus far, tonal values have been practiced using dry media, wet media and now collage as well. Students will continue with Colour Theory (Cool & warm colours) next week.

Week 7 : In this week was the final touch up for their baseline assessment using colour pencil, oil pastel and collage techniques. Then teacher explained to them art annotation guide to annotate their artworks. The art annotations were based on line, tone, form and colour. Then they started their next baseline assessment ( wet media) and the teacher showed the demo on how to take the good photos based on three different compositions : 1st compo : Bird's eye view, 2nd compo : Worm's eye view, 3rd compo : Based on their observations.

Week 6 : In this week all of them started with the third thumbnail which was collage technique. Teacher showed them an example on how to start with the collage technique. Then their homework is, they need to complete those three thumbnails, complete with title, colour chips and technique and they need to bring a real fruit 5 options were given, : Apple, Pear, Lemon, Orange and Banana. They need to choose either of those 5 options and bring it on next art class. Next week teacher will teach them how to write annotations for their completed artworks.

Week 6: Collaborative session completed on Colour Theory (paint), consisting of mixing of colours demonstration and recap of basic colour theory: Primary colours, Secondary colours, Complimentary colours, Warm/Cool colours and the creation of Value (Tonal) Scales. Students then completed compositional paintings in watercolour and acrylic paint.

Week 5: The start of Colour Theory - Presentation done on Colour Theory and revision of the basic colour facts covered in Year 6. Students created interesting composition sketches using pastels, viewfinders and still life images.

Week 5 : In this week they are still continuing with the second thumbnail by using oil pastels. Some of them have started thumbnail three. Next week will be the last week for the baseline assessment task by using Viewfinder

Week 4 : In this week teacher was still continuing with baseline assessment. During this activity, teacher was explaining them about the keywords that they might not know : Viewfinder, close up and dry media. After this they have to continue the activity by using viewfinder to focus the subject matters. They started their activity based on reference paper, The due for this activity is two until three weeks. Some of them completed baseline assessment on Pen and Charcoal.

Week 4: Students continued with baseline assessment. They were taken around the school to observe objects and draw it with a different monochromatic medium than what they chose last week.

Week 3: Baseline assessment continues: Students did the second of three observational sketches. This week they created sketches of their shoes, inspired by Van Gogh still lifes, with a monochrome medium of their choice (pencil, charcoal or pen).

Week 3 : In this week Ms Tiya checked one by one their process journal/ art block just to make sure all works were done properly. Some of them gave their feed backs about their artwork. They started with the baseline assessment : Tonal charts and Pears with dry media technique.

Week 2: Baseline assessment continues: Picking 'secret object' (out of bag) and completing 1 of 3 object drawings in monochrome media (pencil, charcoal or pen).

Week 1 & 2 : In these two weeks, teacher briefed about the essential agreements and they were given a paper and sign off the paper with their promised to follow all of the rules while they are doing art class. The rules basically wanted to educate them on how to be more discipline and well organised. Teacher then recapped last term lessons and showed them the formula for the secondary and tertiary colours. They started to make their own notes on the colour theory in their own way. Then they continued their first lesson with baseline activity and teacher started with the tonal charts and briefed about the graded pencils and how effectively to use the graded pencils and charcoal. They will continue the baseline assessment next week.
