Week 35: Students learned about
--> changes of state in terms of melting, boiling, evaporation, freezing, condensation and sublimation
--> qualitatively the pressure and temperature of a gas in terms of the motion of its particles
--> changes of state in terms of the kinetic theory
Week 34:
Physics: Students learned about , SI units and prefixes, use of vernier caliper and performed the experiment to find density of a material.
Chemistry: Students learned to distinguish properties of solids, liquids and gases and describe the structure of solids, liquids and gases in terms of particle separation, arrangement and types of motion.
Week 33: Students able to calculate magnification of a cell with the different units. They also prepared own microscopic slides of onion tissue and algae tissue.
Week 32: Students learned about specialized cell where they come up with cell's super power character and presented it.
They sat for 1st test of term 3 and we discussed the answers.
Week 31: Student learned classification of monocot and dicot plants where we brought the students to open space to explore the adaptable features of monocot and dicot plants.
Week 30: Students learned about five kingdoms. Focusing on animalia (Vertebrates and invertebrates] and plants [Flowering and non-flowering].
Week 29: Biology : Teachers introduced IGCSE Biology 0610 syllabus and we entered new topic -> Characteristics of living organism [Mrs Gren]
Week 28 : Students sat for Secondary 1 Checkpoint Science paper 1 and 2
Week 27: Revision for checkpoint papers.
Week 26: Discussed Mock paper, home learning to do past year paper [October 2018]
Week 25: Working on past year papers as revision for Checkpoint and sat for MOCK SCIENCE CHECKPOINT Paper 1 and 2
Week 24: Conduction, convection and radiation experiments were performed [4 types of various practicals]
Evaporation involving factors such as surface area, air movement and temperature practicals related to practical theory and cooling.
Students were introduced peardeck.com where they had interactive learning on renewable and non-renewable energy.
Week 23: Students performed the experiments, produce lab report and science project for school fair.
Week 22: Students come up with idea of doing various experiments, planning and designing.
Week 21: Students sat for their test 2, and we discussed the test papers.
Week 20: Students able to relate topics learnt in week 19 with metal reactivity and displacement of metals.
They performed experiments with various type of salts and metals. Worksheets have been given to prepare them for next week test.
Week 19: Entered new topic " Reactivity"
>>> Describe the reactivity of metals (Lithium, Potassium. Sodium, Magnesium, Calcium, Zinc, Lead, Iron) with oxygen and water. They performed and observed the experiments.
>>>Students performed experiment where they able to describe the reactivity of metals with acids.
Week 18: We discussed exam questions.
Entered new topic " Energy Changes"

(a) exothermic reactions --> Reaction of Magnesium burning, Magnesium reacting with acid
(b) endothermic processes --> Reaction of potassium chloride with water

Week 17: Student continued with
>>> Explain how current divides in parallel circuits
>>> Measure current using ammeters and voltage using voltmeters, including digital meters
Year 9A and T sat for their first test for term 2.
Week 16: Student sat for their test on electricity and we discussed the answers. We entered new topic, energy changes.
Week 15: We entered new topic of Electricity. Students learned about
>>> Electrostatics and the concept of charge, including digital sensors
>>> Interpret and draw simple parallel circuits using symbols
>>> Model and explain how common types of components, including cells (batteries), affect current
Students used simulation to see how electrons are transferred in electrostatics and building simple circuits using conductors and insulators.
Week 14: Students learnt how selective breeding can lead to new varieties with many examples and we discussed the work of Darwin in developing the scientific theory of natural selection.
Week 13: We entered new topic: Variation and Classification
Student constructed key by using given animals and plants. They also learnt difference between genetic and environmental variation.
Week 12: Students successfully performed APP : Investigating turning forces.
Feedback given for them to do correction.
Discussed checkpoint question 2015.
Week 11: Students build a model for their APP test for the topic Moments.
Week 10: Students learnt about pressure in liquid and gases by doing various experiments.
Then introduction about moments and APP test were given for following week task.
Week 9: We entered the topic Density and students made a lava lamp to demonstrate the concept of density. We also entered the topic Pressure and did the demonstration of baloon on a bed of nails.
Week 8: We continue lesson on atoms, Group 1, 2, 7, 8 in Periodic Table.
Week 7: Test 1 paper were given back for self reflection and correction.
We entered new topic where material properties, where we go through history of atom.
Week 6: We continue lesson on energy flow where students learned about producer, consumers and decomposer. They also sat for their TEST 1.
Week 5: We entered new topic; Adaptation of animals and plants in environments.
Week 4: Students performed worksheet regarding topic plants, and we discussed the answers. They sat for quiz for this chapter.
Week 3: Students able to identify each part of flower where they brought flowers from home to do the labeling and write down its functions. They also learned about pollination, fertilization and seed dispersal.
Week 2: Students performed starch test to identify presence of starch. They also understand importance of mineral salts and water.
Week 1: Introduction class regarding term required gadgets, planning, rules and lab safety. Students learned about photosynthesis where they able to define and describe photosynthesis and use the word equation.
