Week 35: Students received progress level for artworks up to where they completed.
Week 34: Students continued to work on their four (A4 size) pieces that make up the one project.
Week 33: Students started on one of their four required pop art pictures that symbolize their identity.
Week 32: Students were assessed on their Artist Research and Planning for the Pop Art project.
Week 31: Year 9's tried their hand at stenciling / spray painting for the first time in preparation for their Pop Art project.
Week 30: Pop artist research continues. Choice: Copy of artist work OR written biography.
Week 29: Introduction to new project for Term 3 - Pop Art portrait.
Week 28: Checkpoint exams
Week 27: Completing Notan 2 projects.
Week 26: Students are still busy with their asymmetrical Notan designs.
Week 25: Students started creating their Notan II (asymmetrical design).
Week 24: Most students' Notan 1 projects assessed. They should now be starting to plan for their asymmetrical Notan (2).
Week 23: Students created their final Notan 1 outcomes, along with WWW & EBI.
Week 22: Students create Notan I (A4 trial) and start with final A3 version.
Week 21: Introduction to new T2-2 project i.e. Japanese Notans. Students start with preparation for the project in the form of three thumbnail sketches in pencil, along with WWW and EBI.
Week 20: Surrealism water projects were submitted for assessment. New project to be introduced next week.
Week 19: Students are finishing up with their T2-1 projects. EBI was completed this week and submitted for assessment.
Week 18: Students continued with their final outcome on A2 with black pen/marker.
Week 17: Students finishing up with the planning stage of their Surrealist Waterworld project. Some started with their final piece on A2 paper.
Week 16: Students started planning for their Surrealist Waterworld project - three thumbnail sketches (in pencil) in their sketchbooks, each with WWW & EBI.
Week 15: Students welcomed back to school and given opportunity to complete/modify their Term 1 projects, as well as the watercolour paintings they created in Melaka during the field trip in December. The new topic for the term, based on their votes from last term, was introduced - WATER.
Week 14: Assessments completed. Not all students were able to finish projects, but will be given an opportunity during the first week of Term 2. The image below shows some of the completed artworks.
Melaka field trip was a great success. Congratulations to all the students that were awarded prizes by the artist for their creations!
Week 13: Students submitted their tonal painting projects for assessment. Most still need to continue next week with complimentary colour backgrounds.
Week 12: Students continued with tonal value painting project (leaf, rose or sneaker). Should start background during next session.
Week 11: Students started painting their leaf, rose or sneaker artworks.
Week 10: Next project introduced: Tonal value painting based on an image of their choice (3 options given in class). The grid method has been demonstrated and students applied this technique to their own A2 sheet in preparation for the drawing stage.
Week 9: Students complete skull painting, the relevant annotations, and submit for assessment.
Week 8: Students applied skills learnt in previous week (Tonal Scale Ice Creams) to create a tonal painting (skull) with acrylic.
Week 7: Students completed a 'Tonal Value Ice Cream' exercise in preparation for the next assessment. They were asked to create five values (by mixing various ratios of colour + black or white) in the form of an ice cream, consisting of: Two tints, one pure colour and two shades.
Week 6: Students completed their final compositional paintings in acrylic and did a reflection session that was based on a peer and self assessment, as well as a media comparison.
Week 5: Baseline assessment (Colour Theory) continues. Students created compositional paintings with viewfinders and watercolour.
Week 4: Baseline assessment continues. Started with Colour Theory. Compositional drawings done with viewfinders in pastel. Last warning given to purchase A3 sketchbooks. Next week signatures will be given.
Week 3: Baseline assessment continues. One still life drawings completed in monochrome media (pen, charcoal or pencil) different to previous week.
