Week 21
This week students are putting the finishing touches on their Element Superhero/Villain posters. We began an introduction on safety hazards symbols used to identify the dangers of handeling acids and alkali's. Students had a choice of completing the safety hazard symbol worksheet at a level 3 or 4 reflective of their ability level. They used ICT to research the meaning and description of the safety symbol.
Week 20
This week students learned what are elements on the periodic table. They completed an periodic table activity identifying metals, non-metals and metalloids. Students begin creating their Element Superhero/Villain poster activity. They choose an element and will complete the guided informational worksheet to research information about their element then they will design a Superhero/Villain based on their information.
Week 19
This week students worked learned about dissolving in solids and liquids. They completed several station activities to answer the question-How well does sugar and food coloring dissolve in water and oil? The activity will reinforce lab skills such as measurements, making observations and drawing conclusions.
