Students concluded the module on the League of Nations via an interactive consideration of the effectiveness of the league of Nations in the Abyssinian crisis.
This was supported by a sample examination question on the success/failure of the League of Nations.

An interactive consideration of the effectiveness of the league of Nations in the Manchurian crisis took place and a homework set for completion by week 3.

Students learned the aims and structure of the League of Nations, allied with source material analysis.
In Week 27, students created a collage on the features of Saddam's leadership.
In Week 26, students created a mind map of the reasons on why Saddam Hussein rose to power in Iraq. The mind map was colour coded for social, political, economic and military factors.
In Week 25, students analysed the influence of Gorbachev in the collapsed of the Soviet Union.
In Week 24, students learned about the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall and the significance of Solidarity group for the decline of Soviet influence in Poland and in Eastern Europe.
In Week 23, we talked about why was there opposition to Soviet control in Hungary in 1956 and Czechoslovakia in 1968, and how did the USSR react to this opposition. We also made a Venn Diagram to show the differences and similarities of the Hungarian and Prague Spring Revolutions.
In Week 22, students practiced to answer the Paper 2 which is about sources.
In Week 21, Year 10 summarised how successful was the United States of America in containing Communism in Vietnam.
In Week 20, we talked about how successful was the United States of America in containing Communism in Cuba.
In Week 19, we talked about how successful was the United States of America in containing Communism in Korea.
In Week 18, students had started to create their powerpoint presentation on the case study assigned to them.
In Week 17, my students grouped themselves into three and were assigned to do one case study each: Korea War, Cuba Missile Crisis and Vietnam War. They were tasked to research and make an outline.
In Week 16, Year 10 continued to talk about Soviet expansionism and how the USA reacted to this. We also had an assessment to check their progress.
In Week 15, students identified the common feature Stalin used to expand his territory to East Europe and how the USA reacted to this.
In Week 14, students examined the reasons for the USA-USSR alliance breaking down in 1945. They've been asked to produce a timeline of the main events of the Cold War and a spider diagram to show the differences between Communism and Capitalism.
In Week 13, students analyse the importance of the Nazi-Soviet Pact and why historians have argued that the Pact was instrumental in causing the Second World War. We focused on analysing and interpreting sources.
In Week 12, students played games by a computer simulation. The first one start with a random member of the Big Three making a proposal on a key issue; the second one is decision-making game where students act an advisor to Adolf Hitler, the Nazi dictator of Germany. In Week 9, my students created the structure of the League of Nations and identified its weaknesses/failures and strengths/successes in the 1920s.
In Week 10, students analysed the weakness/failures and strengths/successes of the League of Nations in the 1930s, focusing in the Manchuria and Abyssinia invasions. We also had a quick assessment to check on their progress. The result has shown improvements compared to the last assessment.

Learners re-examine the terms of the peace treaties after the First World War and around each one identify long-term effects on Britain, France, Germany and the League of Nations. Learners brainstorm to consider the consequences for

(ii) the aggressors
(iii) Britain and France
(iv) other major powers
(v) the League of Nations.

Students will continue to develop their knowledge of Hitler's Foreign policy through an interactive activity requiring them to make decisions based on their knowledge and understanding of the political situation in Europe in the 1930's.
There will be a further assessed exam question on the failure of the League of Nations.
