Duke Nukem Forever

The Duke Dome. There is a wrecking ball and a cracked wall that blocks the player's path. Nothing indicates that the player has to destroy that wall to progress. To make matters worse there is a counter-intuitive design decision made here. Why can't the player just fire rockets or throw explosives to destroy that wall? There is simply no reason to force the player to use the wrecking ball when they could clearly have used their own weapons to do it.

Realistic physics is computationally expensive to do, but that shouldn't be an excuse for rendering the player confused or frustrated because they have tools at their hands that have no effect in the game world's rules. The game manages to contradict itself because in a previous level there is a scene where a character tosses a pipe bomb to clear the way, which was being blocked by a crashed alien ship. Even more confusing when the game itself, with a non playable character for example, clears the path using weapons or tools that the player himself or herself could have used.

The bar indicates a temperature in °F. For some reason the developers of this game decided to reuse the same mechanic for multiple challenges. For some challenges it makes sense as it's a turret that overheats after firing for too long. For other challenges it doesn't make sense at all. The girl instructs duke to pull the leaver. However, the player is left to guess how is the leaver supposed to stop the elevator from falling. Most players are going to think that you pull it once and that's it, much like a car's brake. That's not how this challenges works though. Neither the girl nor the game explain whether the player is supposed to pull and hold it or keep pressing the button to pull it multiple times. The girl keeps screaming "Pull it!!! Again!!!" without any further explanations.
