Importing

The import function can be called from a contact list screen, or by an external program that will pass to it a "vcf" file .

The screen includes a title and a list of files as the exporting screen.

By touching a file name or end of line menu icon, you will be as when exporting preview the file, rename, delete, and transfer between public or private extended memory, or launch the contacts file importation.

In the case of an appeal by an external program, the import function of the transmitted file is launched automatically.

For importing, the program will first search the contact names in the "vcf" file and examines whether these contact names exist in the contacts base. It then displays the names of the new contacts and the names of contacts already present. Selection buttons allow to choose between three options:

  • ignore the existing contacts (whose full name is already present),
  • merge the existing contacts,
  • ask to user for all contacts.

A click on OK do display the account for importing selection box, if you have multiple accounts on your mobile, then do display the import processing screen.

This screen display a list of import operations done or not done, and following chosen option and existence or not of the contact :

  • import the contact and add it,
  • merge the contact with the existing contact (if there is only one),
  • ignore the contact,
  • display a dialog box allowing to user to ignore the contact, add it (when no existing), or if there are existing to choose one, and to replace or merge information.

This dialog box displays, for the contact to import and the existing contact (or the existing contacts), the full name, the phone numbers, the mail addresses, the personal information and indications about family idents (present or not, equality or not).

Note that there is generally at most one existing contact with same full name because contacts manager generally aggregates contacts with same full name. However it cannot be excluded that there are several, especially it is possible to prevent the aggregation.
