Family links

For each contact you can specify a father, a mother, a spouse, and children. There will be grouped in family links.

When you create a family link, you can search for an existing contact for this link, or create a new contact. The new contact will be created in the account, or one of its accounts to be chosen, of the contact for which the link is created.

You can enter this new contact all the information that program allows to enter for a contact: name, complete or partial date of birth, gender (man or woman), deceased indication, phone numbers ... and family links and make it visible if you like.

You will then see in the contact where the family link has been created, the link type, name, date of birth, and died indication if any. For a child, the link will show son or daughter if gender has been set, and it will be placed last in the list. Commands allow you to reorder the children.

Information on family links will be sought in the linked contacts, and will be automatically updated when these contacts will change. To help find related contacts regardless of the changes, the program records in each created, linked or modified contact, a unique identifier (the program uses the identifiers created by the UUID Java class).

There are, however, two cases where information from the family links are not updated, the linked contact has been deleted or the link was entered as a "Relation" in another application. In these cases the links will be displayed in orange.
