SWBAT:
..compare GEOMETRIC and ORGANIC
...review FILL & STROKE options
...place INTERNET IMAGES into AI files and LOCK them
...use the PEN TOOL to outline SILHOUETTES
1. Right-click on the closed file name
2, Name all files the following way:
PROJECT NAME (space) LAST NAME
(space) FIRST NAME (dot) FILE EXTENSION
Example: Silhouettes Hooker Martina.ai
1. Select the pen tool
2. Go to the Tool Box and set the Fill to None and the Stroke to a bright color that you will be able to see
1. Select the Pen Tool
2. Click somewhere on the outside edge of the leaf to create a point
3. Choose the EASY or HARD strategy
• EASY: Click further along the leaf edge to create another point and a straight line segment will appear
• HARD: Click and drag to create a curved line segment.

4. Keep clicking (or clicking and dragging) until you have outlined the entire leaf
• SILHOUETTE: The outline or general shape of an object. No interior details are included.
• INTUITIVE: something done from instinct or something that is easy to use
• COUNTERINTUITIVE: something that goes against what you believe would be logical, or something that goes against common sense
1. Open your AI Skills 6 file if needed
2. Open your theme folder
3. Position your AI Skills 6 file and your Theme folder side-by-side so you can see them both
4. Gently click to select the closed file icon of a one of your photos
5. Drag it onto your AI Skills file
1. Select the photo with the selection tool
2. Lock it so it doesn't move when you are working on outlining it.
Object Menu > Lock > Lock Selection

1. Select the Pen Tool
2. Click somewhere on the outside edge of the object to create a point
3. Choose the EASY or HARD strategy
4. Keep clicking (or clicking and dragging) until you have outlined the entire object
1. Add and outline your other two images
1. Add and outline additional images of same them or a new one
1. 4 OUTLINED SILHOUETTES including the leaf
2. LINES are CONNECTED and NEATLY drawn
3. Traced Images are WELL CHOSEN(SEE PREVIOUS LESSON)
• Shapes are ORGANIC
• COMPLETE IMAGES -Nothing cut off/obstructed
• NON-ART IMAGES (plain photos) were traced,no drawings, paintings, digital renderings
• Shapes are INTRICATE• images are THEME related
