SWBAT:
1...create graphics that meet industry standards for full color printing
2...maintain PS image quality while scaling
3...create visually balanced compositions with multiple layers
4...create multiple versions for web, print, and archive.
SWBAT:
1...set up Photoshop files that are at the industry standard resolution for color printing.
2...create photoshop layers by copying and pasting
3...work with and understand the properties of vector smart objects
4...copy and paste TWO SILHOUETTE shapes into their T-Shirt files
1. Open your Rotational Designs & Silhouettes File
If you don't have a Rotational Designs file, skip to the next section, "Create Your T-Shirt.psd file"
2. Select a shape and the rotated copies of it
(See Example to the Left)
3. Object > Group or Right Click > Group or Command G
4. Repeat the process for the other shapes.
(you should have a least 3 groups. If you don't, proceed anyway. You can create and group more designs later when you have spare time)
5. Make sure you set the fill and stroke to the default white and black
1. Select your 3 Silhouettes
2. Set them to the Default Fill and Stroke
1. Use the SPOTLIGHT SEARCH feature at the UPPER RIGHT corner of your screen to find and load Photoshop.
2. File > New (Command N)
3. Name: T-Shirt followed by your Last name and then your first name Example:
T-Shirt Hooker Martina
4. Width: 7.5 INCHES
5. Height: 9.75 INCHES
6. Resolution: 300
The industry standard resolution for full color printing is 300 DPI
7. Color Mode: RGB Color
8. Background Contents: Transparent
1. Open your Rotational Designs file.
If you don't have Rotational Designs, open your Color Page, select your color wheel, set it to the default fill and stroke, copy, and paste it into your T-Shirt file
2. Select a design group
3. Edit > Copy (Command C)
4. Open your T-Shirt file
5. Edit > Paste (Command V)
6. Select "Smart Object" in the Paste Window
Since Smart Objects are Vector based, you can scale them up even though you are using a Bitmap graphic program
7. Hit the RETURN key
1. Continue copying and pasting until you have at least 5 Vector Smart Object Layers
1. Image Size as requested
2. File is named correctly
3. There are at least 5 layers with designs/shapes in each
4. The designs/shapes have white fill and black stroke.
Create a second file and paste other AI designs into it
You can name it T-Shirt Extra followed by your last name first name.
Example:
T-Shirt Extra Hooker Martina
1. Confirm availability. Report to the Mac Lab
