3. Copy!
1. Click and drag with the Horizontal Type tool to create a Paragraph Type area.
Use the Shift - Click trick to create a new Type area or be sure to not to click near your Masthead or any other text areas.
2. Paste your text
1. Do this only if you want your teasers on both sides
2. Make a copy of your Teaser Type layer
3. Delete the first 3 from one
4. Delete the last 2 from the other
You should now have your Teaser text divided up into two separate layers
1. Set your workspace to Typography or just open the Character Panel & Paragraph Panels from the Window Menu.
1. Do not use the default Myriad Pro font anywhere. Make a design choice and choose a font on your own
2. Create Consistency
• Font Choice - Make all Teasers the same, all subheads the same
• Pt Size - Teasers are all the same. Subheads are all the same
• Case - Teasers all Upper Case, Subheads all Title Case
• Leading - Teasers all the same small space and Subheads all the same slightly bigger space.
• Alignment - Left/Center/Right
• Format Teasers so that they stand out more than the subheads
1. Spend some time working on formatting a Teaser and its Subhead. Once you are happy with the way everything looks, you can create Paragraph styles and quickly format your other text to create consistency.
2. Highlight your formatted Teaser text.
3. Open the Paragraph Styles Window
4. Click on the New Paragraph Styles icon
5. Double click on it to view its settings,
6. Name it "Cover Teasers"
7. Apply it to your other Teasers.
8. Repeat the process for your subheads.
Remember after you've applied a Paragraph Style you can modify the text further just like you changed the color of the bottom teaser on the Digital Magazine cover.
