SWBAT:
1...EXPLAIN how to create CONTRAST of COLOR
2...DESCRIBE a complementary color scheme
3...ADD a CONTRAST of COLOR illustration to their color pages
4...review the color page RUBRIC
CONTRAST of COLOR is created with pairs of colors that are far away from each other on the Color Wheel. COMPLEMENTARY colors sit directly opposite each other so they create the most CONTRAST of COLOR.
Example: Yellow & Violet are complementary colors.(see left)
The word complimentary (with an "i" instead of an "e") means something different - FLATTERING or FREE
Artists use complementary colors to create simple and unifying color schemes.
The use of complementary colors is also helpful for making things stand out because complementary colors create the MOST CONTRAST.
