SWBAT:
1..apply layer styles to apply color and special effects
2..use an analogous color scheme to create Unity of Color.
3. Use the paint buck to fill an empty layer with a contrasting color for the background

2. Based on your reading / prior knowledge, choose a color scheme that will create Unity of Color
1. Select a layer by clicking on one of your designs with the move tool
2. Look at the bottom of your Layers Palette to find the Layer Styles (FX) Icon. Click on it to open up the Layer Styles Drop down menu
1. In the Layer Styles (FX) drop down menu, Choose STROKE and EDIT color and weight on one of your layers
2. In the Layers Styles Window, Choose Drop Shadow, play with the settings, and apply it to one of your layers.
1. You can edit a layer style by double clicking on the layer style icon on the layer in your layers palette
3. Make sure you are using ANALOGOUS and/or MONOCHROMATIC colors
1. Click on one of your layer style layers (FX) to select it
2. OPTION-DRAG the Layer Styles (FX) icon on the layer with the drop shadow to another layer. You just copied it!
3. Keep working on it until you are happy with it.

2. Choose a color that will contrast most with your analogous color scheme.
CONTRAST of COLOR is created with pairs of colors that are far away from each other on the Color Wheel. COMPLEMENTARY colors sit directly opposite each other so they create the most CONTRAST of COLOR.
Example: Yellow & Violet are complementary colors.(see left)
The word complimentary (with an "i" instead of an "e") means something different - FLATTERING or FREE
1. Create a new layer (LAYER > NEW)
2. Drag the new layer to the BOTTOM of the LAYERS PALETTE so that it is underneath all your design layers
1. Go to the tool Box and set the Foreground Color to a contrasting color
1. Make sure you have an empty layer at the bottom of your layers palette (See section 5 above)
2. Select the Paint Bucket Tool in t he Tool Box It's hiding under the Gradient Tool if you don't see it
3. Window > Swatches. Pick a color or value that will CONTRAST against your UNIFIED and ANALOGOUS Color Scheme in your DESIGN.
4. Pour it into your new layer
• DROP SHADOW and STROKE Layer Styles have been applied
• The Layer Styles are applied in a CONSISTENT and thoughtful way
• The COLOR SCHEME creates UNITY of COLOR (Analogous/Monochromatic)
• There is a PAINT BUCKET or GRADIENT layer with a CONTRASTING color in it and there are no other designs in that layer
Create a second file and paste other AI designs into it
You can name it T-Shirt Extra followed by your last name first name.
