SWBAT:
1....Trim hidden pixels outside of the canvas and add a 1/2" blank canvas border.
2....add correctly FORMATTED and POSITIONED TITLES and their NAMES to their Surreal Environment projects
3...create 2 additional DUPLICATES of project, one in JPEG format and the other in GIF.
1. Complete Up to Section 9 Even if You're Not Done Yet
1. Right-Click on your Shape Layer(s) and choose Rasterize from the fly-out menu. These are the layers where you first drew guides for your room with the line tool.
The Line Tool draws VECTOR LINES so they must be rasterized before you can trim them
1. Select the CROP TOOL
2. Check the OPTIONS bar and make sure the crop tool is set to UNCONSTRAINED..
3. Choose the TRIM option in the IMAGE MENU IMAGE > TRIM
Did you complete section 4 above?
1. Open the CANVAS SIZE Window from the IMAGE MENU. Image > Canvas Size:
2. Change the Width to 17" and Height to x 11"
3. Save your work
1. Zoom into the lower right corner of your file
2. Select the Type tool
3. In the Options Bar set your Font to MYRIAD PRO REGULAR, 12PT, LEFT ALIGNED, and BLACK
4. Click (DON'T DRAG) with the type tool to create Point Type and type in the necessary text in TITLE CASE
5. Use the TYPE tool to highlight your TITLE and change the style to ITALIC and the Point size to 14 pt
6. Check your work against the SAMPLE and specifications provided LEFT
7. Save your work
1. Use the Move tool to reposition your Title and Name text to the LOWER RIGHT corner of your file.
2. Make sure it is NEATLY aligned to the edges of your art as shown left.
1. Check for mistakes in spelling and spacing
2. Check that you used mixed case
3. Check that the Title is 14 Point, that the rest of the text is 12 Point and that the font is MYRIAD PRO REGULAR
4. Correct as needed
1. Turn off the Line Tool and Pencil Tool guides (see left) so they don't show on your final print.
1. Check your work against the Surreal Environment Rubric
2. Refer back to previous Lessons if you need to catch up
3. Add more detail to your project for Bonus points
1. SAVE your Surreal Environment.PSD file
2. Open the SAVE AS Window through the FILE MENU: FILE > SAVE AS.
3. Choose JPEG in the FILE FORMAT drop down MENU
The JPEG file will be on your desktop. It's closed
1. Open the SAVE for WEB option in the FILE MENU FILE > SAVE FOR WEB
2. Look at the UPPER LEFT of Save for Web WINDOW and make sure GIF is selected (See 1)
3. Look at the BOTTOM of Save for Web WINDOW to make sure the the Constrain Proportions icon (The Chain Link) is set to constrain. (See 2)
4. CHOOSE one of the OPTIONS below DEPENDING on whether your PAGE ORIENTATION is TALL or WIDE and TYPE in the WIDTH measurement ONLY (See 3)
WIDE COMPOSITIONS:
• Enter in 900 for Width ONLY.
(Height will change automatically)
TALL COMPOSITIONS:
• Enter in 900 for Height ONLY.
(Width will change automatically)
5. Click the SAVE button at the BOTTOM of the Save for Web WINDOW. (See 4)
6. Again, click the SAVE button in the SAVE OPTIMIZED AS Window and choose DESKTOP for LOCATION
