4...Edit color to create a unified color scheme
5...Make design choices that appeal to a target audience
1. Plan out your the placement and size of your image(s). You can include shapes too.
2. Draw rectangles and lines to represent all of the text elements you planned for (see section 3 above)
3. Don't forget to work with Negative Space!
4. Optional: Get an extra sheet of paper and sketch out additional ideas (like the pros do!)

3. Use the specs shown left
1. Look at professional examples of magazine covers that match your topic to get ideas. Choose a font that closely matches one that you like.

Serif for more traditional / older audience & topicSans serif for younger / more modern audience & topicUse very decorative font only if it really suits your audience and purpose of magazine

• Make your own original image out of 3 or more images
• Use a photograph that you took yourself.
Paint or draw your image
Make sure your image provides enough negative space for your cover teasers and teaser subheads. Or come up with another strategy for your text.
