SWBAT:
• Learn about linear perspective including
1-Point and 2-Point Perspective
• Create a 1-Point Perspective Study in pencil
• Add warm and cool colors with colored pencils
• Use complementary colors on shadows
You will use 1-Point perspective to create the illusion of 3D Space and 3D Form in your 1-Point Perspective Study!
SUPPLIES NEEDED
Two piece of paper sized at 8.5" x 11" or larger
Pencil & Eraser
Small 2" - 4" square/rectangular items for tracing like post-notes, make-up containers, misc containers, etc.
Ruler & Scissors maybe helpful
1. Use a ruler to draw diagonal lines.
2. Make sure each line starts at one of your squares/rectangles corners
3. Make sure the diagonal lines connects to the vanishing point
4. Some corners do not need diagonal lines. Ask for help if you're having trouble seeing that on your drawing.
The HORIZONTAL lines should be perfectly parallel to the Horizon line. Use the T square to get it right.
The VERTICAL lines should be perfectly parallel to the Left/Right edges of your paper. Use the T square to get it right.
Your final coloring should include some of your own color choices
STEP BY STEP
Choose from the following warm colors
Y-G, Y, Y-O, O, or R-O
Color in the 6 FACES of your forms with it. Go over your coloring and make sure it's as OPAQUE as you can get it
Your final coloring should include some of your own color choices
Choose a 2nd WARM color that is ANALOGOUS to the warm color you chose in step 1 . Also make sure it is darker
Imagine the light source is coming from the upper left and GRADUALLY blend the 2nd color into the 1st color as shown left.
Your final coloring should include some of your own color choices
Choose a 3rd color for a SHADOW that is COMPLEMENTARY to one of your 2 analogous colors. (I chose BLUE)
GRADUALLY blend the 3rd color into the base colors starting from the lower right fading out before it hits the middle (see left)
COMPLEMENTARY COLORS are pairs of colors that sit directly across from each other on the color wheel
Choose a LIGHT looking COOL color from the color wheel (I chose BLUE)
Color in the SIDES, TOPS & BOTTOMS of your forms with it. Go over your coloring and make sure it's as OPAQUE as you can get it
Your final coloring should include some of your own color choices
Choose a 2nd COOL color that is ANALOGOUS to the cool color you chose in step 1 (I chose VIOLET)
Imagine the light source is coming from the upper left and GRADUALLY blend the 2nd color into the 1st color as shown left.
Your final coloring should include some of your own color choices
Choose a 3rd color for a SHADOW that is COMPLEMENTARY to one of your 2 analogous cool colors. (I chose YELLOW)
GRADUALLY blend the 3rd color into your darker cool color (see right)
COMPLEMENTARY COLORS are pairs of colors that sit directly across from each other on the color wheel
Your final coloring should include some of your own color choices
Review the color wheel names (see left) if needed.
Navigate to the private comment section where you will upload your 1-point study drawing
List the 3 colors you used for your form faces as a private comment. Then list the 3 colors you used for your form sides.
See my example left if needed. You should have some different color choices.
Include a Reflection & Self-Grading
Also include a REFLECTION: What were you SUCCESSFUL at? What did you STRUGGLE with?
Also include what GRADE you think you deserve.
5 points --- PAPER SIZE: Paper is sized at 8.5" x 11" or larger
5 points --- SIZE of DRAWING: Drawing fills the page
5 points --- HORIZON LINE & VANISHING POIINT: A Horizon line was neatly drawn centered vertically on the paper with a vanishing point at center on the horizon line
10 points --- 6 SHAPES: 6 Shapes are either squares or rectangles and are drawn so that their verticals and horizontals are lined up with the edges of the paper. There are at least 2 different sized squares/rectangles that range in size from approximately 1.5" - 3". The lines are firmly drawn, straight and neat.
10 points --- DIAGONAL LINES: Lightly drawn diagonal guide lines were drawn to inform the sides of the forms and they all connect to the vanishing point. Firmly drawn diagonal lines were drawn to define the sides of the forms and they all connect to the vanishing point.
10 points --- HORIZONTALS & VERTICALS for BACK EDGES: Firmly drawn horizontal and vertical lines were drawn to define the back edges of the forms. The lines are horizontal or vertical and are neatly drawn.
10 points --- DIAGONAL GUIDE LINES ERASED: All diagonal guide lines (the diagonal that do not define the sides of the forms) have been neatly erased.
15 points --- FACE COLORING-WARM ANALOGOUS: Faces are colored in with 2 warm analogous colors with a complementary color shadow. The coloring in looks opaque and neat and the blending gradually done. Coloring shows an imagined light source from the upper left.
15 points --- SIDE COLORING: COOL ANALOGOUS: Sides are colored in with 2 cool analogous colors with a complementary color shadow. The coloring in looks opaque and neat and the blending gradually done. Coloring shows an imagined light source from the upper left.
5 points --- COLORS LISTED: Private comments include the 3 Face Colors and 3 Side Colors listed
5 points --- REFLECTION and SELF-GRADING: Private comment with reflection and self-grading is included
5 points --- TIMELY COMPLETION: The assignment is completed no later than a week past the due date
