Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky (16 December 1866 – 13 December 1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist. Kandinsky is generally credited as one of the pioneers of abstraction in western art. ... In 1896, Kandinsky settled in Munich, Germany...He returned to Moscow, Russia in 1914, after the outbreak of World War I. ... "His spiritual outlook... was foreign to the argumentative materialism of Soviet society", and opportunities beckoned in Germany, to which he returned in 1920. There he taught at the Bauhaus school of art and architecture from 1922 until the Nazis closed it in 1933. He then moved to France, where he lived for the rest of his life, becoming a French citizen in 1939 and producing some of his most prominent art. He died in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France in 1944, three days prior to his 78th birthday.

Abstract art uses visual language of shape, form, color and line to create a composition.
Abstraction indicates a departure from accurate representation. This departure can be slight, partial, or complete.

Choose 2 color schemes from that assignment or (choose new one(s)) to explore in your 2 sketches

Use colored pencils to plan out the color schemes you chose on your 2 sketches
Choose the drawing you want to work from
Carefully transfer it onto the Pastel paper provided with a pencil
Feel free to change your drawing
Use drawing aids for geomtric shapes
Divide the small practice paper into 4 sections and write your name on it
Work with the colors your are planning to use in your final Abstract Composition and practice the following
Wash Hands Last!
Clean Up
Shake loose pastel powder into blue bin
Cover pastel drawing with newsprint (avoid smudging)
Put pastels away carefully
Put table bin away
Spray and wipe table
Wash hands last
Dust off clothes as needed (do not wet try to remove pastel from clothes with water)
