Teacher Instructions
Student Instructions:9th grade can be a very tough year for students, for most of you, you have just made your transition into a new building, with new rules, new staff, new friends, new experiences. This next journey in your education will cultivate and shape your futures. Are you prepared? One way to ensure you are prepared is by understanding that as young adults you are now responsible for self-advocating.

Activity 2: Navigating self-advocacyThink about your past experiences. Has there ever been a time when you needed to advocate for yourself? Did you? What was the outcome? OR Have you ever had a time where you should have advocated for yourself and didn't? What did you learn from the experience? In what ways have you grown since that experience? In a brief video (2 mins or less) share your self-advocating story. Submit your videos to your teacher or via Google Classroom

Activity 3: Positive Personal ProfileA major part of self-advocating is KNOWING YOURSELF, your strengths, your weaknesses, areas in which you can stand improvement. A PPP is (a written document that describes you – can include specific information for a specific purpose but can be general as well) an inventory of YOU. As you all prepare for life after high school (work or college), you will need to paint a picture of yourself for potential employers and/or colleges. In a 1page essay, complete a self-inventory, detailing the following areas:Dreams and GoalsInterestsTalents, Skills, and KnowledgeDislikesPositive Personality Traits
