Title: I am unique because...
Instructions:Students will begin thinking about their skills, hobbies, and interests.
Lesson 1 (Monday): Play these videos of diversity stories being read. Explain that we areall different based on characteristics we inherit from our parentsand the effects of our environment.
Lesson 2 (Wednesday): Talk to your student about what makes them unique. Ask your student questions like “What makes you different?” and“What makes you special?” Discuss with your student some similarities and differences between humans and animals.Ask students to illustrate their characteristics. Illustration can be the students choice! Some examples include charts,graphs, pictures, drawings, sculpting, poem, dance, skit, or a story.
Lesson 3 (Friday): Sign in to Naviance Student with your student and complete the following survey questions:1.What are your hobbies and interests? Name at least 3.2.What do you not like to do?3.Now think of one of your friends. What are three things they like to do?
Signing into Naviance Student: 1. Go to www.philasd.org and click the login tab 2. Enter your student ID and password information 3. Click on the Message Center tab (left-hand side) 4. Click on the Naviance Icon 5. You are now on your Naviance Homepage 6. Click on My Planner, then scroll to tasks 7. Chose the task above and complete the survey questions.
