Prerequisite: Any two of the following three classes: Gas Metal Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
NOTE: Pending approval for transcripted credit at Fox Valley Technical College
Content: Students will learn and practice advanced welding and metal fabrication techniques. Students will utilize welding/cutting processes such as SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, Flux-Core, Plasma Cutting and Oxy-Fuel Cutting. Advanced metal fabrication processes will include precision measurement, blueprint reading, layout, drilling, cutting, grinding, and CNC machining. Safe work habits and career preparation are also components of this course. Students will develop and utilize problem-solving skills and will recognize the importance of a strong work ethic. Students will design and fabricate products individually and as part of a team.
Activities: Students will have the opportunity to build a project of their choice. The instructor retains the authority to accept or deny a project proposal. Materials costs are the student's responsibility.
