Course Content: This challenging course is for the serious art student. It provides studio experience in the design and construction of hand-built and wheel-thrown ceramic forms. Students will explore many decorating and glazing techniques and study the history of clay construction in various cultures. A research paper is a requirement.
Course Activities: Studio artwork. Students may be involved in a field trip to a professional pottery studio or clay exhibit. Ceramics will be displayed at the annual art show. Guest speakers and visiting artists will expand upon art careers skills and job opportunities.
Student Cost: a lab fee of $20 covers clay, glazes and a possible field trip.
