Content: The emphasis of this course will be on the backstage aspects of theatre production, including set design, set construction, scene painting, stage properties, lighting, costuming, and makeup. The appreciation of theatre as an art form will be a major focus. This course can serve as a general elective or a fine arts requirement for graduation.
Activities: Students in this course will assume responsibility for pre-production technical work for Neenah High School theatre productions during the semester. Students must attend a Neenah High School production during the semester and strike (take apart) the set on a predetermined date. The students must write a critical review of the performance. They will read a play and complete a colored rendering, a computer design, or a model of a set design.
Cost: Field trip costs.
