Visual Arts Academy

Mission/Vision:

Neenah High School along with local businesses, artists, galleries and more will provide educational opportunities that promote, inspire and support the artistic development and career thought processes of our NHS art students. NHS Academy students will gain career exposure, knowledge and enrichment opportunities to help peak interest in artistic career paths.

What is the Academy?

The Visual Art Academy is a program developed as a partnership between local businesses, artists and artistic career options and Neenah High School. The Academy will provide an enriched opportunity for students to discover and foster interests in artistic careers paths.

Why become an Academy Student?

Students accepted into the Academy will have unique classroom experiences and special access to local artistic businesses, galleries, workshops and more.

More specifically students will:

• • Develop individual interests in specific areas of study

  • Learn about a wide variety of career opportunities

  • Make artistic connections throughout the community

  • Develop professional relationships with teachers, professionals and students with similar interests

  • Experience job shadows with professionals

  • Participate in enrichment experiences such as field trips, internships and guest speaker programs, site visits and workshops.

  • Create reflective artwork based on each semester

  • Apply classroom learning to art career experiences

  • Meet many professionals in the fields of interest

  • Receive a special certificate and program recognition at graduation

  • Receive a letter of recommendation for work or postsecondary school recommendations

Benefits:

Students at NHS can benefit from the Visual Art Academy by having more focused learning opportunities and additional career planning assistance. Students will be able to choose a plan of study that prepares them for their life after high school.
