Course Content: This course investigates various cultures, philosophies, economic systems, political theories and institutions that have shaped the 20th and 21st Centuries. Emphasis will be placed on the key events and movements that have influenced the modern world. Areas to be covered include the turn of the century, World War I, the Russian Revolution, World War II, Communism, the Cold War, independence movements and emerging democracies, and today’s world. Time spent on each unit will vary. Current events will be integrated into this course.
Course Activities: Term papers, readings, lectures, class discussions, simulations, small-group problem solving, oral reports, and videos.
