Content: Shielded Metal Arc Welding, commonly known as stick or arc welding, has its roots in some of the earliest forms of electric welding. SMAW welding can be found from the farmer's workshop to the erection of steel structures such as bridges or skyscrapers.
Activities: Students will experience SMAW welding using many joint types and all positions. Multipass welds for heavy plate, as well as experiences in stainless steel and aluminum, are both in this 1-semester course.
