Content: Science is a subject that underpins and ties together every part of the universe. This course will explore the ways in which various fields of science (biology, physics, astronomy, etc) intersect to explain some different natural phenomena. Through the course of the semester, students will study the following natural phenomena:
the physics of bird flight
fall colors (fall semester only)
maple syruping (spring semester only)
ancient astronomy
the extinction of dinosaurs
the ecology of the Fox River
Students will explore these topics through hands-on and experimental scientific investigations. These topics will help students better understand and appreciate the many ways science is tied to real-world topics and issues.
Activities: Engineering challenges, student-driven inquiry projects, modeling computer simulations, and current events.
