Course Content: This class is designed to complete the study of marketing concepts that were introduced in Marketing. This innovative class is designed for students having an interest in the application of marketing in the areas of promotion, price and product development concepts. Students will use a hands-on approach to marketing in the areas of sports, entertainment, and travel/hospitality through the eyes of a marketing consultant. Course components include overviews of the trends in the various industries, promotional strategies, event development and management, sponsorship, and customer service.
Course Activities: Classroom instruction will include individual, small, and large group instruction, guest speakers and many hands-on activities including a virtual business simulation. Students who are involved in marketing have the opportunity to participate in realistic and professional development activities as part of the student organization DECA. Activities and opportunities include school functions, field trips, guest speakers, competitions, and scholarship opportunities.
