Course Name: Physics
Course Number: 55400/55410
Open to: Grade 10-11-12
Length: 2 Semesters
Credits: 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Algebra 1, Geometry
Course Content: This class is a qualitative study of the central concepts of physics with emphasis on phenomena observed in the everyday world. It uses a laboratory approach to concept development. Mathematics is integrated as a reinforcement for concepts. The course also involves some project design and testing competition. Areas covered include kinematics, dynamics, energy, optics, and electricity. These topics will be further explored through computer-based laboratory experiences.
Course Activities: Lab exercises, computer-integrated lab activities, problem-solving.
Technology Integration: Students will use technology to research, write, annotate and complete class activities.
Student Cost: A calculator with trigonometric and exponential functions is highly recommended, an appropriate fee for field trips.
