The football team took an early 12-0 lead over Reynolds, but ultimately lost the Homecoming Game, 21-18, to the Raiders on Oct. 6.

The Scots started the first quarter strong offensively with the ball on the 23-yard line, and maintained incredible defense and focus throughout the first half of the game. Senior wide receiver Jeremiah Hatton brought the ball to the 80-yard line and the Scots then scored a touchdown with 5:58 left in the first quarter. Junior guard Noah Bulahao had an impressive tackle against the Raiders. Douglas was quick to bring the ball back once the Raiders got their hands on it. Junior running back Caleb Clardy scored the team another touchdown with only a minute left on the clock, which led to a 12-0 David Douglas lead.  The Raiders scored 7 points before halftime, with the Scots still in the lead by 5.

After having time to strategize during halftime, the Scots returned to the field and scored an impressive touchdown courtesy of senior defensive back Jakai Clardy, which led to a 18-7 Scots lead. After two Reynolds’ touchdowns, the Raiders took the lead of 21-18.

Regardless of the loss, the Scots fought hard till the last second on the clock, supported by a loud crowd of Scots fans, who remained enthusiastic throughout the game.

“Everyone was so excited to see the boys winning,” said junior Lilith Williams. “When the Raiders took the lead, we all still kept cheering them on. Even though our team lost, they showed a lot of growth during this game.”

The homecoming court was announced after the first quarter. Representing the freshmen class was Sincere Nathan and Ellia Tan. Representing the sophomores were Cathleen Tran and Nevayah Samuels. The junior representatives were Savannah Hall and Aki Tran. Last but not least, the six Homecoming Court seniors include Mercy Pacheco, Korae Williams, Amanda Feleke, Andy Tan, Veronica Gomez, and Aysiah Clinton. The Scottish Tams performed a jazz routine during halftime that they learned at a Mount Hood dance clinic. The Tams will perform a Hip Hop routine at their next halftime performance.
