Don’t know what to do this spring break? Cafes can be a fun and simple way to get out and do something with your friends. Most have a cozy and calm atmosphere which can be good for things such as studying, having conversations with friends, or even taking pictures. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, cafes really rose in popularity. Today, they offer a diverse range of drinks and food to fulfill customers’ wants and needs.

My friend and I went to two different cafes in two different locations to try different varieties of drinks and food offered. The first cafe we went to was Sorro Sorro at 2250 E. Burnside, a place with the cutest desserts I’ve ever seen. Their lattes have cute designs on the foam, so cute you don’t even want to drink it. I personally think iced coffee is better, so I had to try one of their many options. While you’re waiting for your drink, Sorro Sorro has a little shop where you can look at accessories. When we got our drinks we took a table outside since the inside was full, so I recommend coming at a less busy time.

The second place we went to was a place downtown called Java Man at 508 S.W. Broadway. The inside was aesthetically pleasing and filled with greenery. Unlike Sorro Sorro, there was barely anyone there and it was more peaceful. Java Man offers more breakfast-like food, which was impressively flavourful. They didn’t have any iced coffee, sadly, but they had many hot drinks to choose from.

My favorite part was just how pretty the inside was. Having greenery around you is so calming and stress relieving, overall just good for one’s well being. Everything about the inside was just right. They have many different seating options, like tables, couches, and comfy chairs. It’s quiet and not as overwhelming as most public places tend to be.
