The Scots are winless in non-league play, struggling with team members learning new positions.

David Douglas was defeated on Sept. 16, 45-0, by Clackamas, and on Friday, Sept. 9 by the North Salem Vikings, 46-0, and before that 48-0 by Tigard on Sept. 1. The team had new positions thrown into the game against the Vikings, but regardless, the Scots fought hard. The Scots had a slow start in the first half with trouble moving the ball, but began to settle down by the second half of the game.

“[The Vikings] are a good team," said assistant coach Steven Andreen regarding North Salem. "They’re hard to practice and prepare for.”

Sophomore quarterback Jakai Clardy gave the best kickoff return yet in the season. Senior Defensive Lineman Aj Wedge, had incredible defense throughout the game along with senior defensive tackle, Isaac Cashdollar. The Scotsmen were a little distraught throughout the game due to the new positions but one of the captains, Isaac Cashdollar, is staying optimistic with his team and continues to have an incredible amount of persistance.

“It was definitely a tough game both mentally and physically. We had guys playing new positions that lead to some mental mistakes,” said senior right guard and defensive tackle, Isaac Cashdollar. “Overall, I think we could and should have done better.”

Regardless of the loss of the Scots, the crowds were still loud and supportive towards the players. The cheerleaders performed incredible full downs during the game and did plenty of crowd engaging cheers. The cheerleaders also showed off their tumbling skills and danced to the Pep Band who played fan favorite tunes such as Sunshine of Your Love, Iron Man, and September.  The Dad’s Club was supplying crowds of Scotsmen supporters with freshly grilled hot dogs and burgers along with a beverage of choice near the entrance of the Anthony Palermini Stadium.
