Dryers on, extra fluff—Midsummer Jersey, that’s the stuff March 10,11, and 17 and March 12 and 19. This year, the Scots Performing Arts Department will be performing its 2023 spring production, Midsummer Jersey, a humorous retelling of Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night's Dream with a modern-day New Jersey twist.

The play revolves around the impending marriage of New Jersey’s governor and the love affairs of four high school crushes until the night then takes a magical turn with fairies and a beauty salon staff… This hilarious production is directed by Theater Instructor David Rosenbaum and student assistant director, junior Kaitlyn Borrenson. Shakespeare's 400 hundred-year-old English can be a challenge to grasp, but this play will put the audience at ease with its modern lingo and feisty remarks.

“This modern retelling of Midsummer Night’s Dream is a way for all audiences to understand and enjoy Shakespeare,” said Borrenson.

Tickets are on sale for these following dates: March 10,11, 17 at 7:30pm and March 12, 19 at 2:30. Buy your ticket online with the department's new ticketing partner, Ludus. Click here to watch the dramatic love entanglement, potions, spells, fairies, and Jersey accents all taking place in the Howard F. Horner Performing Arts Center. Ludus collects a small ticketing fee per ticket and to avoid those fees, the box office will still sell tickets in person 90 minutes prior to each show and March 8th from 3-5pm.

“A seamless blend of MTV reality show Jersey Shore and Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream… with fresh, poetic dialogue, frequent recitations of authentic quotes, and countless pop culture references,” stated Fairfax Connection.
