Science is a part of every young person’s life, now and in the years ahead. Students should be helped to understand how science and society affect each other. Providing an opportunity beyond the classroom for first-hand experience in learning about man’s physical world can be both educationally rewarding and motivating.

As part of its curriculum in the sciences, the Board of Education encourages field trip visitations by elementary school classes to the Talcott Mountain Science Center for Student Involvement, Inc., Avon, Connecticut, a non-profit educational facility dedicated to increasing man’s understanding and appreciation of the physical world.

The Board recognizes that certain students have special talents in the area of science. High School students identified as having special talents in the area of science are sponsored annually to the Center’s program “The Sky’s the Limit”, a State Department of Education approved program.
