Description of Galapagos Tortoise

Physical description of the animal: The tortoises have a large bony shell of a dull brown or grey color. The plates of the shell are fused with the ribs in a rigid protective structure that is integral to the skeleton.

Size: 69-91 cm tall and body length of 122-152 cm

Life Span: 100-200 years

Differences between Males and Females: The tortoise's belly or bottom of the shell is called the plastron. By looking at the underside of the animal, you can determine if the plastron is concave, indicating that it is male. On the contrary, if it is flat, it is characteristic of females.
