White Bass

color can range from silvery white to pale green 

 large, rough scales

lateral lines running along the sides

front dorsal fin is large and spiny

rear dorsal fin is small and softer

tail is "forked"

white bass are native where they are found

habitat ranges from Mississippi River Basin to Louisiana and into the Rio Grande River

live in lakes, ponds, and rivers

they do not like muddy waters or waters with a lot of plants/vegetation

young white bass feed on small invertebrates

adult white bass feed on shad, silverfish, young sunfish, etc.

larger fish will eat white bass (such as larger bass, northern pike, etc)

humans will also catch and eat white bass (good fish to eat)
