Description of the Habitat- these fish are found in large, heavily vegetated marshes, rice paddies and slow moving streams in South Asia
How much rainfall- Thailand: 1,200-4,500 mm per year ; Cambodia: 1,400-4,000 mm per yer
Plants- rice, in some floodplains there are native species of trees
Animals- some species of mollusks, crabs, prawn, frogs, snakes, insects, water birds also live in rice paddies and flood plains
Temperature- average annual temperature in Thailand is 24- 30 degrees Celsius, while the average temperature in Cambodia is 21-35 degrees Celsius
Terrain- typically the bodies of water are pretty flat and stagnant
Distribution-
Continents found- wild betta are only found on the Asian continent
Invasive at all- yes, in the subtropical areas of America ( mainly Texas and Florida )
Diet-
What exactly does it eat- insects, mostly tiny flying insects and their larvae, but have been known to snack on small crustaceans and aquatic arthropods
How often does it eat- they are accustomed to intermittent fasting when there are less larvae or insects (the longest they can go is two weeks)
How does it get it’s food- ambushing insects that have fallen into the stagnant water
Any special foods- as said before, small crustaceans and aquatic arthropods
