Foods are mainly pikas and rodents. According to one study, 95% of the food consisted of plateau pikas (O. curzoniae) and small rodents (pine voles, alpine rats, hamsters); the remainder also included insects, feathers and berries. Another study showed that prey also included sand lizard (Phrynocephalus), plateau rabbit (Lepus oiostolus), Himalayan marmot (Marmota himalayana), musk deer (Moschus), blue sheep (Pseudois nayaur ) and livestock
