they're native fish, and known to be in the lower mississippi river and the st croix river
most commonly found in the central to east region of the united states
lives in large rivers and shallow lakes with bottoms of mixtures of mud and sand
they like water temperature in the 65-66 degrees Fahrenheit range
they eat insects, worms, mussels, crayfish, and small fish
don't necessarily have a primary food
most well recognized predators are humans, smallmouth bass, and walleye. pretty much any big fish that gets the opportunity will take it
water pollution impacts the freshwater drum like it does to many other freshwater fish.
