Bowfin have a tan and olive  coloration, they have a curved dorsal fin that runs along the tops of their bodies.  They have very bony bodies that makes them undesirable to eat. adult males can reach up to 30 inches and can reach up to eight and a half pounds. they average 15 inches and 4-5 pounds.
