Elk

Elk are from the deer family and are mammels. A bull elk can range anywhere from 800-1000 pounds and stand 9 feet tall. while cows range from  500-600 pounds standing 6-7 feet tall. They are brown with some skinner legs and thick necks, bulls have alittle more hair on there necks like a lion. there from western North America

• Diet- Grasses, Tree leaves, Twigs, and shrubs

• Eating Capacity- They eat 3 pounds for every 100lb they weigh

• How they get food- Grazes

• Special food- Flowering Plants

• Inter-species – Male elks competting for mate

• Intra-species – Buffalo and elk competting for food

• Affect of invasive species- Spotted knapweed, they affect the growth of other plnats causing a problem for food source.
